There are two main considerations when ordering a car hauler camper: the total weight of all cargo and the total volume of all cargo. In order to size the axles of the trailer properly, the maximum weight of the cargo must be calculated.

The dry weight of the trailer and the cargo are added together to determine the axle size.

For example, if the cargo weighs 8,000# and the trailer weighs 13,000#, a minimum axle configuration would be triple 7,000# axles, but 8,000# axles would be recommended.

A living quarters trailer is generally 96″ wide. Using graph paper, draw out your cargo floor plan. Calculate the linear feet needed for your cargo. Living quarters trailers can be made with additional height if the volume is needed. It is highly recommended to increase the space space to your calculation.

Our most popular size of living quarters is the 12′ camper car hauler. Several floor plans offer the same measurements of 12′ for floor space, including a gooseneck setup, along with the 8′ space over the truck bed. Millennium Trailers can also adapt most floor plans for a bumper pull.

To calculate the size of the trailer, you should add the floor space used by the living quarters and the cargo space. If the size exceeds 34′, then a gooseneck trailer is required. To calculate the length of the gooseneck trailer, add another 8′ to your calculation.
